4 The Money

Have you seen the movie Mad Money?

I finally sat around to watch it. For those who haven't seen it.

Mad Money stars Diane Keaton, Katie Holmes and Queen Latifah. I can recall when the movie first hit the theatres. The critics soaring in action faster than a Lockheed F-117 Stealth Nighthawk fighter plane and shot it down.

There reviews basically never even gave the film a fighting chance.

I have to say that the script is crafty, the acting is great and the story builds up to a nice climax with plot twists that you don’t expect.

I’m impressed by Katie Holmes playing a different type of character. She was convincing. Diane Keaton did her thing in this picture. I need to find out who wrote the script for this and check to see if they have any other well crafted movies.

After watching the movie I have to say that it was a very good movie. Mad Money is not your average heist flick. It took a very familiar plot theme that we are familiar with and put women where we usually see men.

Next they took three women for three different walks of life each dealing with their own struggles in life and situations. Mad money made you care about the characters while luring you in.

I don’t want to tell you too much or spoil the movie for you but if you haven’t seen it check it out at your convenience.

Look Out For…

Do you ever get excited when you know that a movie that really peaks your interest is coming out?

Well I get very excited.

There are a bunch of movies that I can’t wait to come out. I will go over several of them.

Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen
The first one was awesome. If it is even half as good as the original it is definitely worth going to see.

Terminator 4: Salvation
I’m interested in seeing what they will do with the latest installment.

Watchmen
Watchmen is DC comics latest movie installment. The special effects are so crazy. I was fortunate to get a view of the trailer. If the script and acting is great as the special effects this may be one of DC’s best movies to date.

Jurassic Park 4
The Dinosaurs are about to go on another rampage.

28 Months Later
I really didn’t like the original 28 Days. 28 Weeks was awesome though. They are at it again with a new installment which I want to see because the second installment made me a fan of the franchise.

The Brazilian Job
Is the sequel to the Italian Job(which I happen to love). This project keeps getting pushed back. I hope that it does get the green light.

Beverly Hills Cop IV
This promises to be a banger. I can’t wait to see Eddie reprise his role as Axel Foley. Murphy does good in cop flicks.

Captain America
Captain America is one of my favorite Marvel Comics super heroes. This will set things up for the Avengers movies that will be coming out later on sometime.

Heroic Characters

When people talk movies they often talk about good or bad characters.
Let me explain for clarity purposes.

Good characters are characters that are believable and bad are flat characters that are unreal. Then there are the villains and heroes.

Good guys and villains fall into one of these headings person, monsters system/government or machines. Now with all of those the villains out there trying to destroy, kill and hinder our characters from accomplishing the goal.

We needed a Dr. Loomis to Deal with a psychotic serial killer by the name of Michael Meyers.

I just want to share some of my favorite heroic characters from film and what it takes to be a hero.

John Travolta as Sean Archer
First a heroic character has to be ready to sacrifice some things in order to be a hero. Sean Archer was willing to sacrifice his face, family and life to stop a crazy terrorist by the name of Castor Troy from killing thousands of people. Who can forget Face/Off?

Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker
Second a heroic character has to have courage & dedication to due battle with any type of villain. Even if being a hero means you have to go up against a dark galactic empire on a course for world domination.

Luke was definitely up to the challenge working his way up the ranks from a young fighter pilot to become a Jedi Knight. Was able to help his dad Darth Vader forsake the dark side to become a hero once again to destroy the evil emperor.

Bruce Willis as John McClane
Thirdly a heroic character has to have that internal hero clock working within them so when something jumps off they can go into action. John McClane’s clock was working on overdrive. He seemed to be always at the right place when the wrong things were happing and handled his business, especially in the fourth installment.

Vin Diesel as Riddick
Finally all heroes aren’t squeaky clean. Some heroes have a history that may not resemble the resume of our usual suspects for heroes. Remember how Hans Solo was in Star Wars?

In case of an emergency, break the normal routine by selecting a bad boy to get the job done. Riddick was a gritty hard character. When people needed a hero he stepped up to the plate. What better character to choose in tough times to fight against the powers that be than a fearless bad boy who’s ready to die.

We have This Hope

I’m sitting here sitting down at my desk still in a state of happiness and awe. I can only say two words Barack Obama.

Barack on with your bad self. You shook up the world!!

Congratulations to our new President Senator Barack Obama.

It is also great to see Dr. Martin Luther King’s Dream being manifested in history right now. We have this hope that unity will draw us closer together.

A hope that fellow Americans near and far are uniting in purpose and action to make this country greater than it has ever been before.

This is huge.

Let us pray that God continues to lead, direct and orders his steps in this presidential term. We have this hope that Obama will help lead us into the promised land.

I want to share with you inspirational movies of hope that are inspiring as this precious moment in history.

I Sing Because...

Happy Election Day! Voter turnout is one of the largest that they have seen in forty years. Make sure you go rock the vote if you haven’t already done so. I’m so ecstatic because of this historical moment. I sing because I’m happy right now because we are about to bare witness to a phenomenal event.

I can’t wait to get out of here to go run vote for Obama if it is the last thing I do today. Last night I couldn’t even sleep I was too excited abut today.

Today’s post I want to briefly talk about two movies that I watched last night and enjoyed thoroughly.

The first is Recount which deals with the election of Al Gore and George Bush. I enjoyed it.

The second is Bobby which deals with several stories surrounding the Bobby Kennedy's story.

Both movies deal with politics hint, hint. I sing because I’m happy amd it is a beautiful day in the neighborhood. Tomorrow will mark a new day of change and the dawning of a new era.

Close Your Eyes

Thursday night I watched “the Last House in the Woods” and I must say that it is a certified Frisbee that I wouldn’t recommend to anyone.

I’m sorry for even putting the link to this movie on my Thursday, October 30, 2008 post. I was so upset that I wasted my time watching that foolishness.

It has since been removed.

The title of it should have been “How Not to Make a Horror Flick” and the subtitle should have been “the Worst.”

Enough of that I am giving that crap way too much publicity.

There is nothing like a good psychological thriller. There is something about them that just keeps you looking for clues. I enjoy the way the mind works especially when a movie delves into the whole psychological aspect of character and screenwriting.

After watching several movies over the weekend I decided that I would write a post about “Close Your Eyes.” This movie is really good. The premise a hypnotherapist with a troubled past is called in to help police capture an elusive serial killer.

From the beginning the script hypnotizes you taking you to places unknown.

Just when you think you have it all figured out it the movie throws you for a whole other loop. Close Your Eyes has the right combination of A good script, solid characters, and plot twists that makes this movie a very good look.

In fact, this is the stuff great movies are created from. So if you have never seen this movie, check it out.

I bet you wont want to close your eyes because you will be hypnotized with your eyes open.
